Five pacers line up in the featured dash on Saturday, July 12 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park, with the outermost starter, House Edge Hanover, looking to bring in his winning momentum.
First post time is 4 p.m. (ADT) for the 12-dash program, which also features the Milene Carr Memorial in the fifth race and the Kenmac Energy Pace in the seventh.
The top class of the day, slated as Race 11, carries a $4,300 purse with five rivals in the evenly-matched field.
House Edge Hanover (Gilles Barrieau) has post five and lands top billing in the Saturday night feature for trainer Ron Matheson and owner Everette Hanson of Maugerville, N.B. The Betting Line four-year-old was a 1:53.1 winner off the front in his latest try and was a winner off-the-pace on June 14 at Connell Park in Woodstock, N.B., three starts back.
Avatar J (Jason Hughes) has been hot this season as the 11-year-old has a win and three seconds from four starts including a 1:52.2 scorcher on June 21. He has post four Saturday for trainer Darren Smith.
Trevor Hicken pupil Sonny Black (Myles Heffernan Sr.) has rail control after a third-place finish in 1:54.3 in his latest.
Post two belongs to Early Play from the Jeff Holmes barn. The five-year-old Shadow Play pacer has hit the board every start since relocating to P.E.I., and gets Brady Sweet to drive Saturday.
Tradition (Adam Merner) gets post three for conditioner Gordie Hennessey. The Always B Miki seven-year-old was a winner in 1:55.3 on June 28.
The Post Time Picks take House Edge Hanover on top.
“House Edge Hanover was a winner from off-the-pace in Woodstock three starts back and a front-end winner here last time out in a new personal best time of 1:53.1. His versatility should come in handy from post five in this five-horse field, so I'm giving him the edge in this contest.”
The Milene Carr Memorial has Friar Voltaire (Sweet) favoured off the rail for co-owner and trainer Basil Hunter and co-owners Eric and Luke Mutch and Doug Molyneaux. The All Bets Off five-year-old was a runner-up in his Island debut in 1:56 and change. His main challengers include Rosiesmightmmoe (Barrieau) and Gascoigne AC (Marc Campbell).
Raymond White trainee Spack Jarrow, still in search of his first win of the campaign, is the top selection in the Kenmac Energy Pace. Corey MacPherson drives for owner Mike Slana.
Red Shores has launched the 20th Anniversary promotion for on-track players. Purchase $20 or more and receive a ballot for a chance to win $20,000 on Gold Cup night.
