It's closing week at Buffalo Raceway but there's still some great racing to be had. It all begins on Wednesday afternoon (July 13) as the New York Sire Stakes makes its final go-round at the Hamburg half-mile oval with the two-year-old colt and gelding pacers getting together for a $104,400 event scheduled for the fifth race.

Highlighting the young talented field of six is American Fling (American Ideal-Feeling You). This colt is a perfect two-for-two in New York Sire Stakes competition for trainer Ed Hart. His last start was on July 5 with a 1-1/4 length victory in 1:55 at Yonkers Raceway and also took his bracket on June 26 at Tioga Downs with a two-length score in 1:53.1. Both times American Fling beat It A Me Mario. He'll start from post one with Jim Morrill Jr. scheduled to drive.

Its A Me Mario (American Ideal-Nf Salsa) will take another shot at American Ideal, drawing post five for driver Lauren Tritton and trainer Shane Tritton. In his two qualifiers and two pari-mutuel starts, Its A Me Mario has finished second all four times and hopes to get out of that bridesmaid rut.

Bandito Joe (Roll With Joe-Blind Faith) shuffles off to Buffalo Raceway fresh off a nose victory in the NYSS at Yonkers on July 5, beating Kid From The Bronx in 1:54.4. The Travis Alexander trainee will get the services of Matt Kakaley drawing post two.

Train Station (Roll With Joe-Also Encouraging) has earned a third and fourth place cheque in NYSS competition thus far in 2022. Conditioned by Chris Ryder, Train Station will begin his mile journey from post three for driver Kevin Cummings

Hurrikane Hunter (Huntsville-Little Pieceofheaven) and Southwind Tito (American Ideal-Table Talk) complete the field of six. Hurrikane Hunter (James MacDonald) had a fifth place finish at Yonkers in the NYSS while Southwind Tito (Barton Dalious) was a solid third behind American Fling at Yonkers on July 5.

The boys will be firing away at the Buffalo Raceway track records. They are a 1:54.2 mark for the colts set by Melodies Major in 2018 and the gelding standard of 1:56.1 established in 2021 by Pickup Man Hanover.

The 10-race card begins at 1:30 p.m. and will include a $15,000 Excelsior A race along with a $6,600 Excelsior B contest.  The season will conclude this weekend with programs set for 1:30 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday afternoons. The simulcast center will close after action on Sunday, July 17.
