Press reports in Columbus say Ohio Governor Ted Strickland and the Ohio Legislature have reached agreement on a two year budget, which will include the legalization of video lottery terminals at the state's seven commercial
racetracks.
The governor will issue a directive to the Ohio Lottery director with instructions to quickly implement the VLTs at the racetracks, including harness racing tracks Northfield Park, Raceway Park and Scioto Downs.
"The General Assembly will acknowledge the Lottery's authority to implement video lottery terminals and provide for a statutory definition of video lottery terminals and other implementation requirements in House Bill 1, the operating budget bill," Strickland said in a statement.
