Three-year-old male pacers Malevolent and Rosetown Eclipse will look to remain at the top of the Atlantic Sires Stakes points standings when they make their second divisional start of the season at Truro Raceway on Friday, July 11.
Following their respective victories in the Sires Stakes opening leg on June 22 at Inverness Raceway, Malevolent and Rosetown Eclipse, last year's Atlantic Breeders Crown champion and runner-up, headline a pair of 'A' divisions on the 14-race card.
Malevolent and trainer/driver Paul Langille will leave post four in the first 'A' division, slated at race nine. The Malicious gelding, who is 11-for-13 lifetime, is owned by Debbie Francis of Sweets Corner and Rosanne Langille of Lower Onslow, N.S. Rounding out the top three contenders, Phil My Beer and driver Marc Campbell will have rail control for trainer Landon Campbell while Like A King and trainer/driver David Dowling drew the outside post six.
Rosetown Eclipse, trained and driven by Corey MacPherson, will start from post two in the second division set as the 13th race of the day. The Bet The Moon gelding is owned by Rosetown Stable of Stratford, P.E.I., James Gorman of South Melville, P.E.I., and Mike Gorman of Corner Brook, Nfld. His main threats include the Earl Watts trainee All My Lovin, who missed by just half a length in their opening leg matchup. All My Lovin drew the outside post six and will have Marc Campbell in the sulky. Post four starter Woodmere Rocketman will make his first Atlantic Sires Stakes start from post four for trainer/driver Gilles Barrieau.
The 'A' division purses are $12,320 and points earned in the 'A' divisions go towards securing a spot in the Atlantic Breeders Crown weekend at Red Shores Charlottetown Driving Park on Oct. 11 and 12.
Three 'B' divisions racing for $6,000 purses will go postward as races three, seven and 11.
Post time for Friday's card is 6:30 p.m. (ADT).
