Pacer Rebellious ($4.30) and trotter Rich And Miserable ($8.60) shared the spotlight on Sunday, July 10 at Tioga Downs, winning the co-featured Open events.

In the $12,000 Open Pace, Son Of A Tiger N (Mike Merton) went right to the front and led through first-half fractions of :27.1 and :55.2.  Scootnroll (Branden Parker) was first to make a move going down the backstretch but he just sputtered his wheels as Son Of A Tiger N led to three-quarters in 1:22.4.  As they made the turn for home, Rebellious (Wally Hennessey) blew right on by to win easily in a season's best 1:50.2. Son Of A Tiger N had to settle for second, 1-1/2 lengths back, while Rockin Jukebox (Aaron Byron) finished third.

Rebellious is an eight-year-old gelding by Mach Three.  He is owned by Joel Warner and trainer Mike Deters.  The win was his sixth of the season from 18 starts and he now has 61 career victories.

In the $13,000 Open Trot, Nextroundsonme (Hennessey) led to the first quarter in :26.1 before slowing things down with a :30 second quarter. Believer (Tyler Jones) came first-over and challenged for the top spot heading for the final turn as Nextroundsonme held a short lead to three-quarters in 1:24.2. As the field made the turn for home, Believer took over the lead, but Rich And Miserable (Jim Taggart Jr.) popped the pocket and came flying down the stretch to go right on by to win in 1:53.4 by 2-1/2 lengths.  Believer held on for second and Golden Kronos (Brandon Parker) was third best.

Rich And Miserable is a seven-year-old gelding by Explosive Matter.  Todd Buter trains for Buter Farm Inc., Lynette Buter, William Fuhs and Carol Fuhs.  A 37-time winner, Rich And Miserable has earned four of those wins this year from 13 starts.

Tioga Downs recognized Jim McDonald for his 1,500th training win. He reached the mark on Sunday with Agedchedar Hanover (Hennessey) in race number five.

Hennessy drove three winners on the card as Bryon, Merton and Taggert Jr. all had driving doubles.

Live racing returned to Tioga Downs on Friday (July 15) as the track plays host to the New York Sire Stakes featuring two-year-old pacing fillies. Post time is 6:15 p.m.
