Justlikeaqueen Suppresses ‘Aces’ Foes

On Tuesday (July 9) at Running Aces, the Tim Maier-trained and Lemoyne ‘Mooney’ Svendsen-driven Justlikeaqueen ($2.20) lived up to her 1-10 backing by leaving from Post 7 and recording a gate-to-wire win in 1:51 during the $14,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace.

Justlikeaqueen, a five-year-old Palone Ranger bay, cut all the fractions (:26.3, :55.1, 1:22.3) and held on to record a three-quarter-length win over the Nick Roland-driven pocket rider Delightfully Wild. PV Miracle Mary, who closed for pilot Rick Magee, finished third. The ‘good’ track was rated one second slow for the tilt.

Justlikeaqueen, who is owned by Antonia Storer of Dallas, PA, has now won 25 of her 89 career starts and has banked $281,080 in purses. The mare’s Tuesday win time was just one fifth of a second off of her lifetime mark.

Juslikeaqueen is the lone mare in a field of 19 nominees for the track’s 2019 Dan Patch FFA Pace, which will get underway with eliminations this coming Sunday (July 14).

Two-year-old Minnesota-sired races were also highlights from the Tuesday card, and Go Margeaux ($6.60, Rick Magee), Miss Gracious ($4.60, Darrell Wright), Aint That A Shame ($5.00, Don Harmon) and Bunkerhill Phil ($22.60, Don Harmon) all notched wins.

Live racing will return to Running Aces on Saturday night (July 13). There will be two sizeable carryovers: $4,714.19 in the 20-cent Pick-5 Jackpot, and $4,777.45 in the 50-cent Hi-5 wager. First post on Saturday will be at 7:00 p.m. (CDT).
