Stormont Garcon is now three-for-three in his freshman campaign thanks to a wire-to-wire score in the first leg of the Majestic Son Trotting Series for two-year-olds Friday at Rideau Carleton Raceway.

Driver Ted McDonald sent Stormont Garcon, apart of the 1-5 favoured entry, to the front of the field from Post 4 and the duo rolled through fractions of :29.4, 1:01.1 and 1:31 en route to a two and a quarter length score in a career-best 2:00.3 clocking.

Hava Kadabra (Gord Brown) finished second with Aristote Duharas (Stephane Brosseau) rounding out the top three.

Trained by John MacMillan for Eric Baker of Long Sault, Ont., the homebred son of Stormont Bronze lifted his bankroll to $9,450 with the winner’s share of the $7,500 purse.

The series will continue every Friday in July with $7,500 divisions. A $25,000 (added) final is set for Sunday, August 9.

In other streaking action, Jason Gilchrist guided four of his pupils to victory lane during the 15-race program. His wins with Red Breast (1:56.3), Cams Recess (1:57.1), King Clifford (2:00.2) and Native Canadian (1:57) pushed his yearly training tally to 36. The winner of 420 races has earned over $3.5 million in purses over the course of his career.
