The action moves to the Summerside Raceway on Sunday as Lobster Carnival week racing begins at 1 p.m. featuring the first elimination of the Governor’s Plate. Astronomical has drawn the rail with Negrito, Country Estate and Scotian Sunset securing inside posts while Take The Risk, Porthill Alf, Lakota Hall and Red Man A have outside slots from the wings.
The second elimination goes Monday night. Post time is 5:30 p.m. Gemstone and Walter Cheverie have the rail with St Petes Star, winner of the Canada Day pace, and Outlawpositivcharg, last year’s champion, leaving right along side. There should be some early pressure from Pans O Silver and Riccaras Sun, who leave from the middle of the gate, while San Marco Hanover, Mighty and Strong and Lies the Truth mount their charge from the outside.
Lobster Carnival Week runs from Sunday July 12 to Saturday July 18 ending with the 41st Governor’s Plate presented by the City of Summerside and the Journal Pioneer.
