Reunited with reinsman Redmond Doucet, veteran pacer Surrealist continued a streak of perfection during Saturday's card at Northside Downs.
Competing in the weekly $1,100 Winners Over top class, Surrealist was settled into third early before Doucet right-lined him to commence a first-over bid. Surrealist eventually wore down early pacesetter Windsong Katie (Barry Bates) and pulled away from the field for a five-plus length decision in a season's best time of 1:58.3.
Surrealist (Modern Art - Keeping Secrets) now boasts 59 career wins and more than $282,000 in earnings for trainer-owner Dana Getto of New Waterford, N.S. In five lifetime starts with Doucet at the lines, Surrealist has yet to taste defeat.
Northside Downs was one of the 23 tracks across the country celebrating Canada's 250th anniversary of horse racing over the Canada Day weekend.
