The eight-race Sunday, June 9 card at Georgian Downs saw Team Cullen shine bright, with Travis Cullen picking up four driving victories, three of which were for trainer Jodie Cullen.
The first victory for Team Cullen came during the third race on the card, a $7,000 conditioned event for filly and mare pacers, with Playa Duharas. Leaving from post four, Playa Duharas and Travis Cullen grabbed the lead through a quarter of :29.4, before taking the field of six to the half in :58.4. The even-money favourite had things her way to three-quarters in 1:28.1 before holding her Jodie Cullen stablemate, Wifey Said So (Ed Hensley), at bay by a length on the line in 1:58.
After scoring in the sixth for trainer Wayne Henry aboard Whats The Point, Travis Cullen was once again in the bike for Jodie Cullen for a victory in the sixth aboard Berens Weapon. Settling in third in the field of six $20,000 claimers, Berens Weapon stalked while Ballykeel Painter (Tyler Borth) guided the field through the first half-mile in fractions of :29.2 and :58.4. The 1-5 favourite was then given his cue in the third quarter, ranging up to the leader's wheel from third as the pacers reached that station in 1:27.2. The battle raged turning for home before Berens Weapon put away a stubborn Ballykeel Painter by three parts of a length in 1:56.2.
Travis Cullen completed a natural hat trick for his fourth victory, giving trainer Jodie Cullen her third winner on the card with Sergeant Slaughter. Sergeant Slaughter got away in sixth while You Can Have Itall (Hensley) got to the quarter first in :28.3. Hugh Heff (Brett MacDonald) started the cover flow from third, allowing Sergeant Slaughter to find himself third-over at the half in :57.3. The hot-handed Cullen tipped three-wide on the backstretch to move into fourth at three-quarters in 1:26.2 before storming to the lead and crossing the wire three lengths clear in 1:54.4 over Hugh Heff.
Additionally on the card, Tyler Borth picked a driving triple, combining with Travis Cullen to win seven of the eight races. Tyler Jones was the third driver to pick up a victory on the card, doing so in dominating fashion in the Sunday opener with What About Elmo for trainer Paul Reid.
