After having been bet down to 30 cents on the dollar, the Randy Copley-trained and Redmond Doucet-driven Intended Royalty ($2.60) was a strong two and a half-length winner of Inverness Raceway’s $1,150 Winners-Over Pace on Sunday (June 9).

Doucet and the son of No Pan Intended left from Post 4 over the ‘good’ track and settled to the lead after the 29-second opening quarter. The proceeded to click off the middle fractions in 1:01.2 and 1:31.3 before motoring home in :28.1. The win time was 1:59.4.

The early leader and pocket rider Windmeredontmatter finished second for driver Lewis MacDonell. Doubleshotascotch (Ran Campbell) took a ground-saving trip through the mile and finished third.

Intended Royalty has now won four of his 13 starts this season for Randy Copley, who co-owns along with fellow Inverness resident Edward Copley.

From 133 lifetime starts, Intended Royalty has won 30 races and finished on the board 71 times. The eight-year-old gelding has now banked $109,000 in career purses.
