Carolina Beach Best In Open

Carolina Beach dictated the tempo in the $14,500 Open Pace at Saratoga Raceway, winning in 1:51.2 on Saturday, June 9.

The Melissa Beckwith-trained gelding by Somebeachsomewhere worked for the top through a ;26.4 first quarter. Driver Mark Beckwith gave Carolina Beach a bit of a breather passing the half, timed in :55.4 and kicked away from his competition heading to the wire, finishing five-and-a-half lengths in front of the favourite Chumlee A in second, with Manny finishing third.

Winning his eighth race from 16 starts this season, Carolina Beach, paying $9.00 to win, won in a lifetime-best performance.

Live racing continues on Sunday, June 10 at Saratoga with a matinee beginning at 12:15 p.m.
