Undeterred by a demanding first quarter, Foxy Lady rolled to a front-end win in 1:50.4 — matching the fastest this year by an older mare on a five-eighths-mile track — in Monday’s $24,800 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows.
Foxy Lady worked hard to wrest the early lead from All Heart Gal in :28.4 but easily thwarted the first-over bid of the 7-10 favourite, Certified Ideal, and defeat her by 1-1/4 lengths. All Heart Gal was third. The time knocked a tick from Foxy Lady’s lifetime mark.
Dave Palone drove the six-year-old daughter of Real Desire-Judy Is A Fox, who now boasts $748,772 in career earnings, for trainer Ron Burke and owners Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, JJK Stables and Phillip Collura.
