The 2012 season for trainer Carmen Auciello proved to be a year of firsts – after all it was the first year his barn produced more than 100 winners and it also marked the first time in his career the horses he conditioned banked in excess of $1 million.
Auciello isn’t one to rest on his laurels, however, and as result he’s well on his way to smashing personal records for wins and earnings. On Thursday night at Mohawk Racetrack, Auciello added three more wins to his seasonal total.
Enough About You got the ball rolling for Auciello with a 1:56 score in Race 5, and stablemate Bordeauxs Best turned in a flashy, gate-to-wire win in Race 7. The pacer stopped the clock in 1:52. Anthony MacDonald mapped out the winning trips for both horses.
It was James MacDonald, however, who guided Brenway Dixie to a come-from-behind tally in Race 11. That Auciello trainee drew clear to win by 3-1/4 lengths in 1:58.2.
The productive night at the office helped Auciello push this year’s win total to 51 while the seasonal purse earnings by his trainees climbed to $715,457. He’s on pace to surpass the personal-best totals he set last year for both wins (106) and earnings ($1,097,728).
