According to a report, on Wednesday, June 6, the office of Ohio Governor John Kasich signed an agreement that would allow the Thistledown racetrack for thoroughbreds and its video lottery terminals to relocate to an undisclosed site within 12 miles of the Akron-Canton Airport.

An article on cantonrep.com states that the deal was reached with the joint venture Rock Ohio Caesars. The venture is controlled by Las Vegas-based Caesars Entertainment and Rock Gaming, whose chairman is Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert.

Scioto Downs became Ohio's first operational racino when it unveiled its new expanded gaming offerings last Friday.

Multiple outlets covered the Scioto unveiling, reporting that there were strong crowds and some initial glitches.

A subsequent article has explained that the projected tax revenues for Ohio via expanded casino gaming in the state are on the decline.
