Preferred winners at Grand River Raceway found themselves at opposite ends of the pari-mutuel spectrum on Monday evening.

Duly Resolved was a heavily-favoured winner in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Trot while Bolt Power erupted for a massive upset in the $11,000 Preferred 2 Pace for horses and geldings.

Duly Resolved, who was sent off at odds of 1-5, survived a first-over trip en route to securing a 1:57.3 triumph in his assignment.

Sicario led the field through fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:28.1, but it was Duly Resolved coming first-over at the half using a solid, late kick to win by a head over Sicario. Power And Grace tagged along to finish third.

Matt Bax trains the four-year-old son of Resolve-Motown Muscle for Bax Stable, David Hudson, Don Allensen and Gaelic Stable.  The win was the first of the season for the eight-time winner who now boasts a bankroll of $848,872.

Bolt Power posted a 19-1 upset in his Monday evening assignment in what was his debut for trainer Marielle Enberg.

Jason Ryan worked out a perfect pocket trip for Bolt Power, who watched Magical Arthur sail along on the lead through fractions of :27.1, :56.1 and 1:24.3. Bolt Power used his 29-second speed late to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Magical Arthur in 1:53.4.  Even-money favourite Respect Our Flag was third.

The five-year-old son of Bolt The Duer-Pulse Power is owned by Brenda Derible of Hanover, Ont. The victory improved his 2023 record to 2-2-0 from six assignments. The 12-time winner pushed his lifetime earnings to $145,261 with the win.
