The New York Sires Stakes 2010 season got underway at Buffalo Raceway on Sunday, June 6, with a trio of $53,000 divisions on tap for three-year-old filly pacers
.
In the first division Anndrovette, owned by John DiSomma and Taylor Gower, set a lifetime best of 1:59.2. Driver Pat Berry was happy sitting in the middle of the pack with the daughter of Riverboat King before he went wide and cruised home to the finish. Truly A Treasure, the pacesetter throughout the race, was awarded second as Angel From Above was disqualified for interference. V La Faire finished third.
Regular Buffalo driver Jim McNeight guided Tia Maria Hanover to a 1:58.4 score in the second division. With Lady Major and Paper Princess dueling early, McNeight sat in the two hole through the first half and pulled out before the three-quarter pole en route to the win with the daughter of Bettors Delight. Tally Ho was second best and Chatty Kathy rounded out the top three finishers.
In the final division, Its Only Roni took home the lion’s share of the purse, winning in a photo over favourite Barks Like A Dog. Buffalo’s leading driver Jack Flanigen mapped out the 1:59.1 decision with the Noble Ability filly who defeated Barks Like A Dog by a nose. Delightful Syd recovered from an early break to finish in the show spot.
