.
In the just completed Freehold meet, Baggitt captured his first driving title in his 29 year career.
The born and raised 47-year-old Freehold native could not have been more excited. “I am so proud to win the title on my home turf and this is one of my crowning achievements.”
Baggitt started grooming for Paul Wojtowicz and Harold Kelly when he was 13 years old and with the 181 victories amassed this past Freehold meet, he has now won over 2,100 lifetime.
Ken Rucker was the king of the hill in the training standings.
The high percentage winning trainer had a very successful season in racking up 80 victories.
He had previously won titles in Illinois and at the Meadowlands, where he is presently the leading trainer at their meet as well.
The 44-year-old Rucker said, “Whenever the Freehold race office calls me for horses to enter, I am more than happy to oblige.”
He added, “It seems to work out for both of us as most of the horses that they call for, race very well. I am truly very pleased about winning the training title.”
Freehold will remain open throughout the summer for afternoon and evening simulcasting with live racing returning in August.
