Locatelli on a serious-looking class drop found himself in the role of the favourite in Monday’s $32,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, but it was Oney Hall who leaned heavily on his back class to take down the featured affair.

Send off at odds of 3-1, Oney Hall got away fourth for driver Trevor Henry while Walkonthmoon marched to the top and had the field chasing him past the quarter pole in :27.1. Locatelli teed off from the three-hole in the backstretch and quickly powered his way to the top.

The 4-5 favourite the hustled the field through middle panels of :56 and 1:24.4 before being hauled down in deep stretch. Oney Hall came first over on the way to the three-quarter pole, and then he used a :28.4 closing kick to win by three-quarters of a length over Locatelli in 1:53.3.  Dead-heating for show were Franks Angel and Perfetto.

Trainer Chantal Mitchell shares ownership on the seven-year-old son of Deweycheatumnhowe-On With The Show with Alan Leavitt of Lexington, Kentucky. The win was the gelding’s third of the season and the 30th of his career.  The $16,000 payday bumped his bankroll to $531,714.
