The fastest mile of Monticello’s 2019 live meet was recorded on Wednesday (June 5).

After having started from Post 2, the invading Kenrick N ripped off fractions of :27.3, :56.3 and 1:25.1 before hitting the wire first by open lengths in 1:53.3. The seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight is trained by Austin Gilbert and was driven by John Desimone Jr.

Three of Monticello’s top reinsmen were absent on Wednesday, and ‘Johnny D’ made the most of it.

Desimone, 60, who has been a fixture at Monticello Raceway for over four decades, won four races during the afternoon card.

In addition to the win with Kenrick N, Desimone hit the wire first with Adorable Ben (1:59.4 - $19.80), Superiorcourt (1:58.2 - $13.20) and Elias Joy (2:01 - $4.20).
