Audreys Dream continued his win streak in Century Downs' $10,500 Open Pace, overcoming his assigned outside post position on Sunday afternoon (June 5) for the Hensley stable.
Owned by trainer Ashleigh Hensley and driver Ed Hensley, Audreys Dream earned his fifth consecutive victory in the Open class with a 1:52.4 wire-to-wire effort in Sunday's feature.
The Rocknroll Hanover-Belovedangel gelding quickly crossed to command from post seven off the gate while his stablemate, Spinfiniti (Travis Bowman), was parked and advancing throughout the :27.3 opening quarter. Audreys Dream gave way to Spinfiniti in front of the grandstand before retaking into the turn. He reached the half-mile mark in :56.4 and scooted away from the pack to three-quarters in 1:24.1 with only Spinfiniti keeping pace and having a shot turning for home. However, Audreys Dream sealed the deal with a :28.3 final quarter and prevailed by one length over his barn buddy. Beren Hanover (Tyler Redwood) edged out Who Doesnt (Travis Cullen) five lengths behind in a photo finish for third.
Following a 1:52.2 track record performance for aged pacing geldings last time out, Audreys Dream was the heavy 1-2 favourite and returned $3 to win.
The eight-year-old pacer is now five-for-nine this year and hasn't missed the board for an annual income of $35,445. Those numbers bring his lifetime win count to 29 with purse earnings amounting to nearly $390,000.
