Kawartha Downs will feature a dozen races during its 2026 Opening Night program this Saturday, June 6.
Post time is 6 p.m. for the first card of the meet, which will feature a $5,700 Preferred Handicapped Pace in race eight, with P L Ozzy the 3-2 morning line favourite for the track's defending driving and training champions, Nick Boyd and Amanda Riley. The former Gold Cup & Saucer competitor won his only other start at Kawartha in a Preferred last August, when he set the aged stallion track record of 1:50.1, and returns off a 1:50 upset victory last Saturday at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
The five-eighths-mile oval in Fraserville, Ont. will host 16 race days during its 2026 meet, which runs through Oct. 3. Racing will take place on most Saturdays with an evening post time at 6 p.m. (there is no racing scheduled for July 11 and Sept. 26).
Some of the racing highlights of the season will include Ontario Sires Stakes legs of the Grassroots Series for three-year-old trotting colts on Aug. 8 and three-year-old pacing colts on Sept. 5, as well as many Prospect Series events.
