Mister Daytona N ($4.40) and driver Mike Simons won Tioga Downs' $12,000 Open Pace on Sunday afternoon (June 4).
Simons, who is the leading driver so far this season at Tioga, guided Mister Daytona N to the outside at the three-quarter mark. Mister Daytona N then wore down front-running Deetzy (Jim Taggart Jr.) in the stretch to win by a quarter-length in 1:51.4. The son of American Ideal is owned by Albert Abdala III and trained by Simons. Americanprimetime (Rick Dane Jr.) finished third.
Simons had a driving double on the day putting his total at 26 wins on the season. Jim Marohn Jr. won three races.
Live racing returns to Tioga Downs on Friday night (June 9) at 6:50 p.m. On Sunday afternoon (June 11), the Grand Circuit returns to Tioga Downs with the third leg of the Graduate Series for four-year-old pacers and trotters.
