Three $20,000 divisions of the first leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) stakes for pacing fillies took place Tuesday at Harrington Raceway.

The first division went to Daryl Bier and Charlie Dombeck’s Inittowinafortune ($2.40, Bier) who fought off all comers in a wire-to-wire win in 1:57. Trained by Bier, it was her third win in seven starts this year.

Scott Woogen’s K Js Caroline ($12.00, John Wagner), sprung a mild upset in the second division after 1-5 favourite Bags of Stars broke early in the race. K Js Caroline was able to make the early lead and never looked back in her 1:57.2 triumph for trainer James Coughlin. A daughter of Roddys Bags Again, she notched her 10th career win in 22 starts.

The fastest divisional winner came in the final split as Ron Davis’ Grace Of An Angel ($5.80, George Dennis) charged home a winner in 1:55.3 for trainer Les Givens. The Roddys Bags Again filly blew past tiring pacesetter Women Rule and drew clear by three lengths in her fourth lifetime win.

The fillies were return for round two of the DSBF stakes on Tuesday June 11, while the $100,000 final will be contested on July 25 as part of the annual Governor’s Day program (post time 7 p.m.).

Driver Jim Morand had three winners on the program. Victor Kirby and Ross Wolfenden each had a driving double.
