The Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA), an umbrella association that represents all segments of the horse racing industry, is pleased to announce that Sue Leslie, its Chairman, will assume the duties of the departing Hector Clouthier

.

"Sue is and will continue to be a great asset to OHRIA as President and Chair,” said Hugh Mitchell, Chief Executive Officer of Western Fair Association and OHRIA board member. “Sue is extremely passionate about the racing industry, a great listener who is highly principled and she possesses the leadership skills needed for the job.”

Leslie, who has been around horses all her life, has held the position of Chair with OHRIA over the past year.

“I am a big believer in OHRIA and its role as the voice to government and regulators,” said Leslie, a native of Hamilton, Ontario. “My main goal is to keep the industry going forward by building communication and cooperation amongst all sectors of the racing industry.”

Leslie is a prominent fixture on the Canadian horse racing scene, as the President of the local chapter of the H.B.P.A., serving on the board of the LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society, serving on the board of the Fort Erie Live Racing Consortium, a Steward of the Jockey Club of Canada, along with her career as a thoroughbred trainer and owner.

The Ontario Horse Racing Industry Association (OHRIA), a non-profit organization, was incorporated in December of 1994, and has a Board of Directors that represents all sectors of the industry.

Their mandate is to further the interests of horse racing in the province by being the driving force and champion; to develop positions that are supported industry-wide; and act as the industry advocate on these positions for activities impacting the entire industry, while further promoting the horse racing industry as a vital part of Ontario's lifestyle, heritage, and agricultural economy.
