Fresh off a runner-up effort in the Roses Are Red Stakes, millionairess Wrangler Magic delivered a winning performance facing Mohawk Racetrack's Preferred mares in the $30,000 feature on Friday night, June 30.
Parked from post six, Louis-Philippe Roy drove on with 2-5 favourite Wrangler Magic to make the lead past the :26.4 quarter mark. Once in control, the Rene Allard-trained mare put up middle splits of :54.4 and 1:22.4 then cruised home a two-length winner despite drifting out slightly down the lane. She earned her fourth and fastest win of the year, clocking the mile in 1:50.3. Request For Parole (Ed Hensley) won the race for place ahead of Sandbetweenurtoes (Phil Hudon) and Exhilarated (Jonathan Drury).
Wrangler Magic paid $2.90 to win. The five-year-old Mach Three-Ja El Shamrock mare has banked $187,175 in 16 starts so far this year for owners Allard Racing Inc., Dr Maurice Stewart, and Kapildeo Singh.
Lifetime, she boasts 14 career wins and earnings over $1 million.
Two-year-old pacing colts My Teen Idol (Mister Big-Beautinaful) and Goth Hanover
(Sportswriter-Gifted Yankee) won at first asking for their connections during the Friday night card.
