In a career-best equalling performance, Happy Holidays ($12.80) held off favourite Euro Classic to score a wire-to-wire victory in the $7,500 Preferred 3 Trot at Grand River Raceway on Friday night (June 30).
Happy Holidays carved out fractions of :28.2, :58 and 1:26.4 en route to the 1:56.4 victory. Euro Classic, the 3-2 favourite, finished less than a length behind in second while Summit City Nate trotted into third.
Anthony MacDonald drove the five-year-old Holiday Road mare, who is trained by his wife Amy MacDonald for Thestable Hh Group. Happy Holidays notched her sixth win of the season from 21 starts and pushed her annual income to $32,953.
A 14-time career winner, she matched her mark taken as a three-year-old over Mohawk Racetrack.
