Jezzy shook loose in the stretch and rallied past the pacesetter Global Desire to win the $83,800 Historic Acorn Stake for two-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday night at Meadowlands Racetrack.
Driven by Tim Tetrick, Jezzy trotted to a 1:57.3 victory in her career debut. Global Desire (Ron Pierce) was 1-1/2 lengths behind her, while Oakiedokie Hanover (Brian Sears) was third.
Part of a four-horse entry in the race, Jezzy paid $5.60 to win and $2.20 to place. The daughter of Credit Winner-Ladylind was a $70,000 yearling purchase at the Lexington Selected Sale. Ray Schnittker trains and co-owns the filly with Ted Gewertz, Jerry Silva and breeder Jeff Gural.
Historic Week at Meadowlands Racetrack continues Thursday night with the Harriman Cup for two-year-old trotting colts.
