A closed-door meeting for shareholders of Mid-State Racing, owner of Vernon Downs, took place last week. It has been reported that the meeting was "upbeat" in regard
to the future of the track.
A report by oneidadispatch.com states that 30 of 100 shareholders descended on the Vernon Downs hotel on June 26. Jeff Gural and officials from American Racing and Entertainment --- which took over the track and Mid-State Racing --- were in attendance.
“Last year, we grew dramatically. We’re finding our own success,” American Racing and Entertainment president and general manager Pete Savage was quoted as saying in an interview after the meeting. “Our revenues this year have been a little flat, but we’ve become much more efficient operationally, so that’s helping us to tend to that debt.”
