Rose Run Quest is no stranger to the top class in P.E.I., and the former Governor’s Plate Champion faces off against a talented group of foes Saturday (June 4) at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

A total of 10 dashes are scheduled on Saturday with a 6:30 P.M. opening post time in Charlottetown. Rose Run Quest is the top entry in the $3,300 Preferred Pace, carded as the ninth race. The 10-year-old If I Can Dream gelding went toe-to-toe with Time To Dance — who is absent this week — in his last start on May 21 to finish second while pacing in 1:55.2 for driver Adam Merner, trainer Melissa Rennie and owners Blair and Carl Hansen and Isaac Shurman.

A 56-time winner, Rose Run Quest has Post 4 on Saturday evening and will put his stellar two wins and one second seasonal record since joining Team Rennie to the test. Former Alberta stakes star Screen Test (Corey MacPherson) has Post 5 after finishing second to Time To Dance on May 28 and will attempt to build on his 33 lifetime wins. Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet) has been acquitting himself well at the Preferred level and has Post 2 after breaking equipment his last start and making a break in stride around the final turn.

Completing the field are My Land (Jason Hughes), Boys Turn (David Dowling) and GA Speed Sammy (Mark Bradley).

Peter MacPhee places his faith in Rose Run Quest to get it all in the Post Time Picks.

“Rose Run Quest has been excellent to start the meet and already has a couple of wins on his papers,” MacPhee said. “He also draws mid-pack and with Merner at the wheel they could be smiling for the camera again.”

The back-up pace lines up in the race 10 finale. Bugsy Maguire is the top choice from Post 6 from the Wade Sorrie barn for owner Walter Simmons of Summerside. Rookie pilot Damian MacLellan has been sharp so far in his short driving career as he guided the horse to a 1:56.1 victory last Saturday in Charlottetown. Cowboy Logic will be reunited with Steven Shepherd from Post 3 while Legendary Ron (Dale Spence) has been saddled with the outside Post 7 after a 1:55.4 victory his last time out.
