Redhot Romeo won the $5,100 featured pace at Vernon Downs on Saturday, June 2.
Sapient Hanover surged to the front and controlled all the early fractions, leading through splits of :26.4, :55.2 and 1:24.1. Redhot Romeo sat patiently in third before making a move after the three quarter mark. Owned by Go Where The Money Is Stable and trained by Huckabone III, he flew down the stretch to win in 1:52.4. Danza came up to get second place. Third money went to Golden Brit.
Redhot Romeo is a four-year-old gelding by Shadow Play. He won for the fifth time in 2018. It was lifetime victory number six. Driven by Claude Huckabone III, he paid $3.90 to win.
Vernon Downs returns to live racing on Friday, June 8 with a post time of 6:10 p.m.
