With the inside post advantage, Carnivore took control of the field in the featured $2,200 Preferred Pace and never looked back en route to his first win of the season on Saturday at Charlottetown Driving Park.

John Holmes rated the six-year-old son of Real Desire through fractions of :28.3, :58.4, and 1:28.1 before hitting the wire in 1:56.2. Carnivore is trained by Earl Watts for the Lucky Seven Stable of North Wiltshire, P.E.I. Oakrock Almighty followed two and a half lengths behind in second while Bet The House inherited the show spot after third-place finisher Arabica was placed back to last for causing early interference to Outlawpositivcharg.

Saulsbrook Balance went wire-to-wire to win the $1,800 Open Trot by three and a half lengths in 2:02.1 in rein to Willie Murphy. The seven-year-old Nikes Image gelding, who carved out the race fractions of :29.2, 1:00.1 and 1:31.1, is now a perfect two-for-two this season for trainer Cynthia MacDonald, who shares ownership with Tanya MacKinnon of Souris, P.E.I. Flashy Image and Warrawee Jade finished second and third, respectively.
