The three-year-old trotting filly Rose Run Leah gutted out a determined victory over the 5-year-old gelding S Ts Hooray at Scioto Downs on Thursday night

. She triumphed in 1:59.3 for driver Jim Dailey.

Dailey shot the bay filly to the top out of the gate, then yielded to S Ts Hooray, driven by brother Jack Dailey. S Ts Hooray led the way into the stretch, rebuffing challengers along the way.

Rose Run Leah stayed tight on the leader’s back and came out for the homestretch drive. With Jack Dailey urging his trotter with his whip in his right arm and brother Jim urging Rose Run Leah using a left-handed whip, they dueled until the filly edged ahead by three-quarters of a length at the wire.

Cinder Emma closed sharply for third while favoured Screen Saver was caught in traffic from post nine and rallied to finish fifth.

Rose Run Leah is owned by Chester R. Corbett of Columbus and trained by Angela Barker. It was her first win in three starts this year. Last year she won half of her 10 starts. The winner is a daughter of Trainforthefuture.
