Grand River Raceway has launched its first online handicapping contest, the Grand River Raceway Challenge (GRRC).
The free contest spans 17 race days — each Monday, Wednesday and Friday from July 3 through August 9 and offers prizes of more than $2,500, including a grand prize of $1,500.
Each race day, players place hypothetical $2.00 Win, Place and Show wagers on one horse in races five, six and seven. Although registration is open to new players for the duration of the GRRC, bankrolls accumulate throughout the contest and players are therefore urged to register early.
Selections must be made no later than 30 minutes prior to post time for the first contest race. Players must be 18 or older. Prizes will be awarded to the top 30 finishers at the conclusion of the contest.
The GRRC initiative is part of the Elora, Ont. track’s aim to capture more of the simulcast wagering market. The strategy includes a major takeout rate reduction of 23.15 per cent across seven pools, which began when the track opened its 10th season on June 3.
Registration is now open for the GRRC. For complete details and to register, click here.
