Having won the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup in Canadian record fashion this past weekend at Mohawk Racetrack, everyone is now well aware of Well Said, but how much do people know about his dam?
Must See spends her days at Fair Winds Farm on Red Valley Road in Cream Ridge, New Jersey.
According to Mark Mullen, president of Fair Winds and a director of the Standardbred Breeders & Owners Association of New Jersey, Fair Winds owns Must See along with Steve Jones.
“[Must See] stays at Fair Winds and her foals have been raised and sold in our farm consignment at Harrisburg," Mullen said.
“Well Said was considered by many to be one of the most outstanding yearlings to be offered at auction in 2007. Jeff Snyder paid $240,000 for him and said in an interview that he would have spent whatever it took to get it him. He was sharp, athletic and correct.”
Mullen went on to say that Well Said is without question the finest horse that they have raised. “The family of Grand Lady (the grand dam) has been very prolific. It is a horse breeder’s dream to have such quality in the broodmare ranks.”
Must See, who banked $562,858 on the track, did not have a foal this year but is in foal to 2009 Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere.
Must See, by Artsplace, has a Rocknroll Hanover filly which will sell this fall at the Standardbred Horse Sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
