After finishing second in his last two starts by only a neck and a nose, Meadowbrook Flash closed the deal on Friday, June 27 in the $19,178 starter allowance pacing feature at Plainridge Park.

Driver Kevin Switzer Jr. sent Meadowbrook Flash to the point and set fractions of :26.4, :55.3 and 1:24.1 while Colt Bennett (Mitchell Cushing) lurked from the pocket. After rounding the final bend, Meadowbrook Flash took a two-length lead into the stretch, but a feisty Colt Bennett made a lunge at the leader in the straight as they headed for the line and made things interesting. But in the end, he came up a half-length short as Meadowbrook Flash won in 1:52.4. Twin B Jays (Matthew Athearn) rounded out the top three, 1-3/4 lengths behind.

The win was the third of the year in 10 starts for Meadowbrook Flash ($3), who trained by Catherine Bouthillier and owned by Marc Bouthillier of Northborough, Massachusetts.

Live harness racing will resume at Plainridge Park on Monday, June 30 at 4 p.m. There will be a $4,211 carryover in the Wicked Hi-5 pentafecta in race six.
