Northern Looker Career Best In OSS Gold

A pair of Ontario Sires Stakes Gold divisions shared the spotlight on Thursday (June 27) evening's card at Woodbine Mohawk Park as the sophomore males met for their second leg in the series. Each division carried a $95,000 purse.

Northern Looker posted the swiftest time with a 1:54 victory in his eight horse division.

Trevor Henry eased the Camilla Christoforou student out of post five and into fourth position off the car and into the first turn. Passing the :27.4 quarter, Northern Looker sat idly as the field shuffled around him. Northern Looker 'looked' on as he gained position in third through the :57.1 half. After the half mile marker, Henry made his move. Northern Looker achieved second from the outside on his first over journey by the time the three-quarters was reached in 1:26. With a :27.4 final panel, Northern Looker gained an advantage on the field to win by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:54. Finite (Louis-Philippe Roy) was second with What About Elmo (Tyler Jones) third.

Unraced as a freshman, the three-year-old Muscle Mass - Shestheonetowatch won his third race in five starts this year, banking $66,540 and producing a career best time in the mile. Charalambos Christoforou and Irvann Holdings Inc. co-own Northern Looker. He returned $19.50 as the 9-1 upset victor.

Myretirementdream returned to the show off a successful freshman campaign and took his first win of the season in his division for nine trotters.

Jody Jamieson stepped on the gas and sent Myretirementdream to the top, yielding the top spot on the inside while battling a relentless Griff (James MacDonald). Griff was the first to click the quarter in :27.2 and then continued to take command from the pylon position. Myretirementdream settled in for the pocket trip through marks in :56.3 and 1:26. As the pacesetter receded, Myretirementdream advanced. Jody Jamieson and the Eli Wagler trainee did not let up, continuing on to win by 3-1/2 lengths in 1:54.1. Favoured Willowtime (Bob McClure) sprinted home to take second and Fabulous Freddie (Tyler Borth) nabbed show.

Wagler bred and owns the sophomore Il Sogno Dream - Myretirementticket colt for his first win in five goes this year and fourth career triumph from 13 starts. Myretirementdream moved his lifetime bank sum to $241,911. He paid $10.00 to win from 4-1 odds.
