Mohegan Sun At Pocono Downs Fined

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board today levied fines totaling $125,000 against Downs Racing, LP, operator of Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Luzerne County, for two violations.

The fines were the result of consent agreements between the PGCB's Office of Enforcement Counsel and the casino license holder, and were approved by the Board at its public meeting on Wednesday in Harrisburg.

The larger fine, $90,000, stemmed from the discovery by the PGCB's Bureau of Gaming Laboratory Operations of discrepancies in information contained in the Slot Machine Master List submitted by Mohegan Sun to the Board. Specifically, during an inspection involving 50 slot machines, the Gaming Lab discovered differences in settings on six of the machines compared to the submitted settings on the Slot Machine Master List.

In the other, Downs Racing was fined $35,000 for permitting the shredding of various documents that are required to be retained for five years and were therefore unavailable upon request to state auditors. In addition, Downs Racing officials failed to notify the Board of the shredding incident even though they were aware of it soon after its occurrence.

The next meeting of the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the PGCB's Public Hearing Room located on the second floor of Strawberry Square in Harrisburg.
