Camcoder once again proved how much he likes Scioto Downs by taking the Open Handicap II Pace on Saturday night in 1:54.2
.
The nine-year-old son of Cams Magic Trick sat in the pocket behind the pacesetting favourite, Red Hot Yankee, and paced past him in the stretch to win by three-quarters of a length with Lovely Dawn rallying for third.
It was Camcoder’s third win in four starts at Scioto this season for owner-breeder Tony Coder of Bellefontaine, Ohio, and trainer Robert Rogan. It was the 53rd lifetime victory for Camcoder.
Leading driver Chris Page sent Red Hot Yankee, a son of Artsplace, to the front at the start with a snappy first quarter in :27.3. He slowed the pace during the second quarter and waited for any challengers. Camcoder attacked in the stretch and wore down the favorite on a track made sloppy by a sudden, intense cloudburst. Camcoder paid $10.40 to win and was part of a driving double for Kayne Kauffman.
Leading driver Chris Page had a driving triple on Saturday night.
