Driver Tyler Moore and trainer Dr. Ian Moore teamed up for a gate-to-wire victory with bettors' choice Lawless Shadow in the $11,000 Preferred 2 for horses and geldings on Monday evening (June 26) evening at Grand River Raceway.
Tyler Moore blasted off the gate with Lawless Shadow from post seven to grab the early lead. The pair controlled the tempo through fractions of :26.3, :54.3 and 1:23.1 before winning by three-quarters of a length in 1:51.4. Arties Ideal (Samuel Fillion) was second and Sea Laird (Colin Kelly) finished third.
Dr. Ian Moore co-owns the five-year-old son of Shadow Play with R G McGroup Ltd, Serge Savard and Frank Cannon. Lawless Shadow has a career record of 11-9-6 in 39 starts to go along with $936,204 in lifetime earnings. He paid $4 to win.
In Prospect Series action, Lastkickathecan (Scott Coulter) won the opener in 1:59.4 for trainer Dale Fritz while the second division was won gate-to-wire by Cash Deals in 2:00 for trainer-driver Mario Baillargeon.
Of his four wins on the evening card, driver Anthony Haughan teamed up with trainer Meg Crone for three wins with Fashion Forward ($2.30), Queen Of Soul ($3.60) and Hayek Hanover ($2.60).
