Rummys Command and trainer/driver Keith Clark ended the Travis Cullen stable's winning streak in Century Downs' $11,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Friday with a wire-to-wire triumph.
Leaving from post four in the short field of just five, 7-2 third choice Rummys Command and Clark took the lead and carved out fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:25 en route to a one and a quarter-length victory in 1:53.3. Cullen's popular mare Sing Like An Angel advanced first over from the back of the pack to finish second while the season-debuting Alberta Sires Stakes champion Nighttraintovegas finished third with Gerry Hudon catch-driving.
The win was Rummys Command's first at Century Downs following four consecutive runner-up efforts in the Open distaff class extending back to the Fraser Downs meet. The four-year-old daughter of Cams Card Shark now sports a career record reading 9-13-6 in 49 starts with earnings of $117,756.
Rummys Command's victory was one of three on the nine-race card for Clark and co-owner Robert Jones of Slave Lake, Alta.
