Mistrial In Waxman Trial

The $20 million fraud trial of standardbred racehorse owner Robert Waxman has been declared

a mistrial.

According to a report by the Hamilton Spectator, the trial ended Thursday, June 25 after it was discovered that inadmissible documents had found their way into the jury's deliberating room.

Waxman's trial had gotten underway April 6, 2009. He pleaded not guilty to five charges of fraud and two of theft. He had been accused of being responsible for a number of fraudulent trades in the copper cathode industry between 1996 and 1997.
