Jesse De Long’s highly regarded Delco Willobee will look to get back on the winning track when he leads a field of eight Illinois conceived and foaled three-year-old pacing colts postward for Friday’s $100,000 Maywood Pace

at Maywood Park.

After tasting defeat for the first time in his sophomore campaign in the Cardinal Stake at Balmoral Park last time out, the son of Ft Apache Hanover returns to Maywood Park where he’s a perfect three-for-three this year.

After a freshman season in which he put up eight wins and three seconds in 12 starts while racing on the county fair circuit, Delco Willobee made his three-year-old debut a winning one as he cruised to an easy win in the Sportsmaster Stake on April 16 at Maywood Park. He then followed up with victories in the Taser Gun and Gosox Stakes before taking a career best of 1:51 while winning a Cardinal Stake elimination at Balmoral Park.

Unfortunately the Jesse De Long trainee came up a little short in the final as he fell victim to a grueling first-over trip and wound up third, just two lengths behind division leaders Power Of A Moment and Iam Bonasera. John De Long gets the call to drive once again and the 2-1 morning line favourite has drawn the inside starting spot in this field.

Harmony Oaks Racing Stable, VIP Internet Stable, Claude Gendreau & Eugene Schick’s Indescribable was an impressive wire-to-wire winner in last week’s elimination rolling to a 2-1/4 length triumph in a snappy 1:53.2. The John Butenschoen trainee also has an ISOBA Stake victory to his credit this year and he checks into Friday’s battle with first or second-place finishes in four of his last five starts. The son of Cole Muffler will have the services of driver Dean Magee, and the pair will start from post position six.

The Roger Welch trained Voomerang has yet to find the charmed circle in his second season but he still comes into this race as the leading money earner with a career bankroll of almost $90,000 for owners William P. De Long and William C. De Long. The son of Cole Muffler was a tough luck second from the eight-hole in last week’s elimination and he will have to overcome another tough starting spot as Mike Oosting sends him away from post position seven.

Rounding out the field are Parker Place, Southern Sport, JHS, Burnthemidnightoil and Fox Valley Escort.
