Fillies Double Up In Philly Baby Races

Three two-year-old fillies recorded their second victories during freshman qualifiers at Harrah's Philadelphia on Tuesday morning, June 24.

Perhaps the most eye-catching was the Tactical Landing-Lima Novelty trotting miss Abbey Blue Chip, who sprinted home in :28.4 to complete a 1:58.3 mile for driver Troy Beyer, trainer Ron Coyne Jr., and the ownership of Ron Coyne Stables Inc., Blair Corbeil, Edward Pachuta and Richard Carney. She was bred by Blue Chip Bloodstock.

Coyne also had the fastest baby trotting male at 1:59.3 with a :29.1 final quarter, and that one was also by Tactical Landing, Southwind Alamo (dam Amber Ella), for many of the same owners as his barnmate plus Mike McAllister.

Trainers Scott DiDomenico and Roland (Polie) Mallar, neither a stranger to success with two-year-olds so far this year, had the two pacing filly repeaters, and they also had another success from their barn in this division as the two conditioners swept the filly paces. The faster two-time winner here was the Courtly Choice-Jungle Genie N distaff Miss Genie Mae, who went the quickest mile of the session in 1:57.2 with a :28.1 last quarter in rein to Johnathan Ahle for Mallar and breeder Shaun Vallee, co-owner with D P V Racing Stable.

Ahle also handled Mallar’s other success story, Patriot Miss (American Ideal-Big City Betty), a 1:58.1 winner with a :28 closer.

Posting her second straight win for DiDomenico, Odds On Enigma, a Huntsville-Yellow Diamond filly, came home with identical back quarters of :28.2 in a 1:57.3 mile for driver Tim Tetrick and Odds On Racing.

Tetrick and Di Domenico also clicked with Teton Beauty, another daughter of Huntsville who is out of Thirty K, winning in 1:59.2 with a :28.3 last panel.
