Gary Simpson's Wichita Lineman won his third straight race Monday, this time in the featured $20,000 Open at Harrington Raceway.
Just like he did in his previous two wins, the six-year-old Bettors Delight gelding received a two-hole trip, stalking pacesetter Late Main N throughout before surging to the lead in the stretch. Sicily was second, while Q's Cruise finished third. Trained by his owner, it was the 16th career win for Wichita Lineman ($25, Art Stafford, Jr). It was one of five victories on the card for Stafford, two of which were trained by Simpson. Tony Morgan had a driving triple.
Earlier on the card, driver Kim Vincent notched his 1,500th career win in the second race aboard Rock N Roll Jet, who was a 1:54 repeat winner for trainer William Bright. Vincent has spent much of his career racing on the Delaware and Maryland circuits.
Allan Davis had a driving double.
