Freshmen trotters were on display at the Meadowlands on Thursday evening in four divisions of the New Jersey Sires Stakes, with a pair of $26,000 for fillies and a set of $26,500 tilts for colts and geldings

Global Desire, the full sister to Trotting Triple Crown winner Glidemaster (1:51.1 - $2,038,575), led off the stakes parade with a seven-length score in the opening tilt for the ladies. The daughter of Yankee Glide-Cressida Hanover laid down fractions of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:28.4 for driver Ron Pierce before scooting home in :28.2 to win by seven lengths in 1:57.1. Caitir (by Classic Photo) was second and Fandango Dancer (by Revenue S) finished third.
The Brittany Farms’ homebred, who was sent off as the 3-5 favourite, hangs her harness bag in the barn of trainer Jimmy Takter.
Crème De Cocoa, a filly from the first crop of Chocolatier out of the stakes-winning mare Judge Judy, used a :28.3 final quarter to propel herself to a nose victory in 1:59 for trainer/driver D.R. Ackerman. The first time starter defeated Lady Pixie (by Yankee Glide) by a nose. Race favourite Angelette Hanover (by Yankee Glide) was third.
The homebred rookie, who was sent off as a 7-1 outsider, races for the Doug Ackerman Stables Inc of Warren, Michigan.
Big Sky Storm pulled off an upset of his own in the first division for the colts and geldings. Brian Sears mapped out the winning trip for the Chris Marino-trained youngster, who stepped home in :28.1 en route to posting the 1:58.1 score. Musclelaneous (by Muscles Yankee) was 1-1/4 lengths in arrears, with Take Heart (by Yankee Glide) rounding out the top three finishers.
It was a winning debut for the homebred son of Classic Photo-Big Sky Angel, who is owned by Domenico Costagliola of Pt. Pleasant, New Jersey.
Trainer Jimmy Takter and driver Ron Pierce enjoyed a stakes double thanks to their win in the second division for the colts and geldings with Leader Of The Gang. The son of Muscles Yankee-Fraulien Bluestone kicked home in a :28-second clip to stop the teletimer in 1:58. Gunga Win (by Windsongs Legacy) did most of the roadwork en route to finishing a half-length in arrears. Third prize went to Thats A Check (Revenue S).
Sent off as the 6-5 favourite in his pari-mutuel debut, Leader Of The Gang was victorious for the partnership of Christina Takter, Brixton Medical Ab, Joyce McClelland and R A W Equine Inc. The colt was a $170,000 purchase from last year’s Harrisburg Yearling Sale.
