The Prospect Series continued on Monday, June 23 at Grand River Raceway, with a trio of $8,000 divisions for three-year-old pacing fillies with Stone Sawyer breaking her maiden in the quickest of the three.
Driver Austin Sorrie and Stone Sawyer (pictured above) stalked a wicked opening pace from sixth off first-half fractions of :26.2 and :54.3 before turning her loose three-wide at three-quarters in 1:23.2. The Anthony Beaton-trained daughter of McWicked-Marquise De Sarah swept past and won by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:52.4 for owner and breeder Robert Bridges for her first win in 13 career tries.
Winning has become a habit for Stellrmanipulation, who is now three-for-three in 2025 following her score in the second division. Driver Daryl Thiessen turned the Joshua McKibbins trainee loose en route to a 1:53.4 career-best romp by 6-3/4 lengths. The daughter of Control The Moment-Four Starzz Meliss has now won four of 11 lifetime and $53,835 in her career for owners M&S Racing Stable Inc. and Paul Badder.
In the third and final division, Cook The Books and driver Samuel Fillion went from sixth to first in the final eighth of a mile to score by a length in 1:57. It was both the first win of the season and in the career of the daughter of Shadow Play-Testing Center who is trained and co-owned by Pam Forgie along with Brian Hammell.
