Whats The Word left his rivals 13-1/2 lengths behind as he romped to victory in the $6,500 featured trot at Vernon Downs on Friday, June 23.

Odds-on favourite Whats The Word ($3.70) went straight to the front in his Vernon Downs debut and led to the quarter in :26.2. He went :29 in the second quarter and was first to the half in :55.2.  When he went around the final turn, he gave his rivals the slip as he cruised to three-quarters in 1:23.4. It became a race for second as Whats The Word won going away in 1:54.2 with Chuck Connor Jr. in tow. Lepanto (Barton Dalious) was second and Live Well Lived (Jimmy Whittemore) finished third.

Whats The Word is an eight-year-old son of Donato Hanover.  He is trained by Megan Reynolds for James Femia, Scott McGee and Janice Connor. The win was his first in nine attempts this season and he now has 25 career victories.

Connor Jr. won three races on the card.  He combined with trainer Janice Connor for his two other wins with Down Right Devious ($4.60) and Your Brother ($15).

Live harness racing returns to Vernon Downs on Saturday with a nine-race card starting at 6:05 p.m.
