Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted the two-year-old fillies on Thursday evening (June 23) with a winning debut from Righteous Resolve, a full sister to the 2021 O’Brien Award winner Duly Resolved.
Righteous Resolve took the track in her first career start in the $16,000 Two-Year-Old Filly Trot with Paul MacDonell at the controls. She sat sixth through a :29 first quarter and 1:00.1 half before popping off the rail. Sweet Determination (Louis-Philippe Roy) and Margarita Morning (Scott Young) gave cover, pulling first and second over ahead of Righteous Resolve. After reaching the three-quarter pole in 1:31.1, Righteous Resolve fanned out five-wide down the stretch. Her 27.1 last quarter surged her to win by three-quarters of a length over Sweet Determination in 1:59.3. She paid $29.30 to win. Heavens Fury and Bob McClure rounded out the triactor.

Trained by John Bax, Righteous Resolve is owned and bred by Bet Max Stables Inc. She is by Resolve and out of the Muscle Mass mare Motown Muscle. She is a full sister to Duly Resolved, a three-year-old gelding and 2021 O’Brien Award winner. Duly Resolved, also trained by Bax, has $707,161 career earnings in 17 starts with a mark of 1:54.1.
In other two-year-old action, Miss Brickley and Jody Jamieson won one of three $16,000 dashes for two-year-old filly pacers in 1:55.3 for trainer Gary Hodgson.
Cheesy Smile won the second event for freshman filly pacers in 1:56.4 for trainer John Pentland with Bob McClure in the seat.
The final two-year-old filly pace went to Starlight Dancer who paced the fastest mile on the season thus far at Mohawk for two-year-old fillies in 1:54.2 with Jonathan Drury on board for trainer Melissa Lamoureux.
