Two victorious qualifiers earlier in the month primed Phil Maguire's Willyorwonthe ($11.40) for a sharp 1:56.3 score in Wednesday evening's (June 23) featured $11,500 Preferred 2-3 Handicap Trot at Grand River Raceway.
Willyorwonthe and driver Colin Kelly circled three-high on the first turn before aggressively pushing clear of Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald) just past a :28 first quarter. And once the eight-year-old Angus Hall gelding had cleared for control, it was game over.
Willyorwonthe strode strongly through middle fractions of :57.1 and 1:26.3 before steadily widening his lead through the far turn and reaching the winning post 3-1/4 lengths in front. Power And Grace held second by a half length over Katch Kanna (J.R. Plante), who emerged out of traffic a quarter mile from home and lifted gradually.
Kyle Bossence trains Willyorwonthe, who has won 42 times in his career and amassed over $385,000 in career earnings.
